Voices for Peace

The Voices for Peace project is something that is very near and dear to my heart. In January of 2006, I got a phone call from Jan Scott Frazier, asking me if I would like to be part of a project she was putting together. The project was called Voices for Peace. As Jan explained, it was a war protest album, not the current war, but war in general. She wanted to get voice actors from all over the country to perform on the album. It was to be a collection of war protest songs, but old ones and some newer ones, sung by voice actors. All off the profits from the album would be going to several charities and that was definitely something I could get behind. I told her to call me, and keep me posted on what was going on.

In less that two months she had gotten together an amazing band in Chicago, and was on her way to Houston with the tracks for us to record. We assembled in a Studio 6 bathroom and recorded most of the Houston Portion of the album. Various others recorded their songs in other places both in LA and NYC. The results were pretty amazing

While all of this was going on, Jan was getting together with amazing artists in the Anime and Manga community here in the U.S. and they were all working on art work for the album and for publicity.

In late April and Early May, we had our first press conferences and panels regarding the album and have actually done concerts at two Anime Conventions, with hopefully more to come.

The amazing thing is that in doing this Jan formed the “Voices for…” organizaion. Which will hopefully continue this work of bringing together talented vocalists, musicians, and artists to raise money for worthwhile charities and other causes that could use both attention and financial aid. It’s something I’m very proud to be a part of.
